Liturgical "Praise" Dance is dance that is incorporated into liturgies or worship services. It is an expression of worship. It can be in Christian services as well as other religions and faith traditions. Such dances can be accompanied by many different types of music. The dancers will respond with an appropriate dance which flows out of the music and is thought to enhance the prayer or worship experience. This dance may either be spontaneous, or have been choreographed ahead of time. If it is choreographed it is generally fitted to the song's lyrics or to religious concepts. Often this is performed by women, but many men also do it as well. The Praise Dance group is made up of children in the parish and the neighborhood. The children rehearse each week and perform on special occasions in the church and outside of the church. They learn to listen to the music and the lyrics and then interpret them in dance.

Dance Ministry Christmas Party

The St. John's Episcopal Church Dance Ministry got together this past week to celebrate Christmas. We would like to extend a special thanks to the Stewardship Committee, who took part in multiple fundraising events in 2012 that all benefited the St. John's "Little Angels" praise dancers. We would also like to send a special thanks to the "Liittle Angels", our dance instructor, Lisa Gay, and the members of the Dance Ministry committee (See Link) for being there for every practice and performance. Christmas Celebration

St. John's Little Angels were treated to a Christmas get-together by the Dance Ministry. The "Little Angels" were treated to Grab Bag gifts and dinner. All the best for 2012 "Little Angels".

St. John's "Little Angels" Praise Dancers received a Certificate of Recognition to the Youth Group by the Brotherhood of St. Andrew Queens Assembly for their participation in "The Annual Talent and Music Festival" on April 18th, 2009
